Messiah Lifeways is a non-profit organization headquartered in Mechanicsburg, PA, that provides a network of services for adults 55 and better living in South Central PA. Our roots trace back to 1896, when the Brethren in Christ Church founded Messiah Home in Harrisburg, PA to serve older adults with Christ-like love.
Who You Are
Are you someone who loves creating joyful moments and creative experiences for others? Do you have experience with planning activities that encourage interaction and building strong social bonds, preferably within a senior living community? If so, you would be an ideal candidate to become our Life Enrichment Manager! In this role, you would be doing much more than planning and facilitating activities. You will be our “Champion of Connection”, that actively works to ensure that Messiah Lifeways’ residents feel seen, heard, and connected. You will develop programming that helps residents live their lives as fully as possible, by addressing their recreational, intellectual, and emotional needs. Whether it be through organizing events around holiday celebrations, or planning walks in support of a worthy cause, you will play an integral role in creating a community-based lifestyle that prioritizes connection and relationships.
What You’ll Do
Lead enrichment/activities teams in RL, EL, and Nursing in developing and implementing robust programs and opportunities for residents, including those with cognitive impairment, that ensure meaningful engagement
Supervise and mentor enrichment/activities team members to pursue best practices and offer innovative and creative programming that meets the needs of both the individual resident and the community
Keeps a pulse on industry trends and innovative practices related to whole-person wellness, dementia programming, and resident engagement
Oversee and approve enrichment/activities teams in the development and promotion of program calendars
Educate and collaborate with team members across the organization on programming opportunities to help engage residents at their point of need
Develop and execute a robust memory support enrichment program that is inclusive of both EL and Nursing Care memory support neighborhoods to ensure a full spectrum of activities designed to meet various stages and types of dementia
Ensure that Messiah Lifeways enrichment/activities team members are meeting educational requirements related to regulatory compliance in conjunction with the Nursing Staff Educator and EL Staff Development Coordinator
Create systems for regularly tracking and analyzing effectiveness of programming
Provide reports on programming that include participation and person-centered opportunities
Develop policies and procedures for programming that appropriately reflect collaboration and regulatory compliance as appropriate
Responsible for recruiting, interviewing, hiring, disciplinary actions, and terminations of the enrichment/activities team members
Develop external partnerships that add value to the organization’s mission and programming
Provide as needed support to facilitate programs and activities
Additional duties and tasks may be assigned

What Else You Should Know
Bachelor's degree in education, psychology, gerontology, human services or related field, or a combination of associate's degree and 5 years of experience in the senior living industry preferred. Experience with dementia/memory care a plus
Two (2) years' experience working directly with long term care residents and/or residents with dementia required
